Obituary of Lucille T. (DeFilippo) Kiklis
Lucille T. (DeFilippo) Kiklis, 82, of Woburn, formerly of Lynn, passed away on Friday evening, May 28. She was the wife of the late Angelo C. Kiklis who died in 2001.
Born and raised in Lynn, she was the daughter of the late Rocco, and the late Catherine (Nicholopoulos) DeFilippo. Lucille was a graduate of Lynn Classical High School, and Salem State College. She began her career as an elementary school teacher in the Lynn Public Schools.
Following her marriage to her late husband Angelo in 1968, Lucille came to Woburn where she began teaching in the Woburn Public Schools. She taught in several of the elementary schools in Woburn, spending much of her career at the Goodyear School, and later the White School, where she retired in 2001.
Lucille was an active and devoted member of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn. She sang in the church choir, volunteered for the annual church festival, and she was a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society.
She was an avid gardener and a talented cook. Jazz music was her favorite, and she loved to sing and dance to her heart’s content. She enjoyed reading and had a lifelong devotion to learning. Lucille truly loved life, her church, her family, and friends.
In addition to her husband Angelo, Lucille was preceded in death by her son, the late Karl A. Kiklis who passed away in 2002. She is survived by her daughter, Marina K. Cronin and her husband Edward J. Cronin of Acton; and her three grandchildren, Edward J., Angelina C., and Anthony K. Cronin. Lucille is also survived by two sisters, Catherine Giangregorio and her husband Silvio of Reading, and Mary Vitali and her husband Samuel of Lynn; her sister-in-law, Dorothy Kiklis of Woburn; and many nieces, nephews, grandnieces, grandnephews, cousins, extended family, and friends.
Visiting hours will be at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Wednesday, June 2 from 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the church on Thursday, June 3 at 11:00 am, followed by burial at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
