Obituary of Eleanor Frances Peterson

Eleanor “Pete” Frances Peterson passed away Bear Mountain Nursing Home in Sudbury on Monday morning, March 2. She was 91 years of age. Born in Woburn on December 3, 1928 to Alma (Pearson) and Franz Hjalmar Peterson. She attended Wyman Elementary School, and in 1946 she graduated from Woburn High School. After graduating she worked in Boston in the field of life insurance. Eleanor loved her piano and always enjoyed playing Swedish melodies. She frequently went to Swedish dances. Swedish fairs and bazaars were always on her calendar. Her Swedish heritage was of great importance. Eleanor was a member of the Appalachian Mountain Club for years, and she took a lot of hiking trips. She liked to bowl and was on a team. She was a life member of the George A. Campbell American Legion Auxiliary. Church life was always important to Eleanor. She was a life time member for 91 years of Redeemer Lutheran Church in Woburn. She loved cats and provided homes to several over the years. After retirement, Eleanor moved from her home on Beach Street in Woburn to an apartment on Bedford Street. From there she moved to the Gables in Winchester. When she needed nursing care she moved to Bear Mountain Nursing Home (formerly Wingate) in Sudbury, where she received loving care until her death. Eleanor will be remembered for her sense of humor and warm smile. She will be greatly missed by those who knew and loved her. Eleanor is preceded in death by her parents, aunts and uncles and several cousins. Her first cousin, Linda Pearson Moretz survives her, in addition to her cousins in the United States and Sweden. Services have been postponed, and will be announced at a later date. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
