Obituary of Gordon F Porter, Sr.

Gordon F. Porter, Sr., of Woburn, passed away unexpectedly on Sunday morning, April 5. He was 78 years of age. Born in Cambridge, MA and raised in Calais, ME, he resided in Chelmsford, MA and Woburn, MA. He was the son of the late Willard, and the late Marie (Maguire) Porter. Prior to his retirement in 2005, Gordon worked for the Standard Box Company and also for Duzo Box as a pressman. He was a longtime member of the Mount Horeb Masonic Lodge in Woburn. Gordon was an avid race car fan and also enjoyed watching the Boston Red Sox and Boston Bruins. Gordon is remembered as a quiet and reserved man, with a heart of gold, who loved his family very much. Gordon was the husband of the late Dianne (Neville) Porter who died in 1981. He is survived by one son, Gordon Porter, Jr. and his wife Olga of Lowell; and two daughters, Lera Ann Porter of Billerica, and Kendra Merrill and her husband Robert of Hudson, MA. He is also survived by ten grandchildren, Justin, Jordan, Keara, Danny, Timmy, Austin, Kailey, Kaitlyn, Matthew and Michael; and two great granddaughters. Gordon is further survived by his two sisters, Linda Fulton and Nancy Chisholm of Winchester several nieces and nephews and his devoted and loving friend, Geri Woodworth. Gordon is also the brother of the late Dona Burgess and Cindy Barbagallo. Due to the coronavirus pandemic, services will be private. A celebration of Gordon's life will be held at a later time. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
