Obituary of Eva Marie Nelson

Eva Marie Nelson (Munk Pedersen), of New Providence, NJ, passed away Tuesday evening May 5 in Burlington, MA. She was 80 years old. Eva was the wife of the late Terence J. Nelson who passed away in February of this year. Eva and Terence lived in New Providence, NJ for over 50 years. Born in Glendive MT and raised in Plentywood MT and Waterloo IA, she was the daughter of the late Frederik and Karen (Poulsen) Munk Pedersen. Eva graduated from Waterloo's West High and then earned her RN degree from the Iowa Lutheran Hospital School of Nursing in Des Moines, IA in 1960. Eva worked as a nurse at Overlook Hospital in Summit, NJ for 25 years. She was active in the community and the church, volunteering with the Red Cross, the Boy Scouts, and for many years organizing the Faith Lutheran Church of New Providence's soup kitchen effort at St. John's Roman Catholic Church in Newark, NJ. After retiring, Eva threw herself into her needlepoint. She exhibited her work at the New Providence Memorial library and filled her own home as well as the homes of her family with ornaments, pillows, and wall hangings. She also loved to bake and made certain that whenever anyone visited her home their favorite dessert was ready. Eva is survived by her loving sons David E. Nelson and Steven M. (Lori Mortimer) Nelson, her brother Michael Munk Pedersen, her sister Karol Sole, and cherished grandchildren Derek Mortimer-Nelson and Garrett Mortimer-Nelson.
