Obituary of Marilyn Kelly
Marilyn (Kristenson) Kelly, 90, of Sandwich, formerly of Woburn, was called to the Lord on Wednesday morning, July 1. She was the wife of the late William T. Kelly who passed away in 1997.
Born in Pittston, Pennsylvania, March 27, 1930, she was the daughter of the late Karl, and the late Ingrid (Hallen) Kristenson. She grew up and attended high school in Somerville, MA. Marilyn was a graduate of Simmons College School of Nursing in 1951. She answered her calling as a hospital nurse and found fulfillment as a nursing professor for many years.
Marilyn enjoyed serving on reunion committees for her high school and college. She faithfully sang in her church choir and was an active member of her Lutheran Church. She was a Girl Scout leader and taught EMT classes with her husband. She was an accomplished baker specializing in cakes and chocolates for every occasion. She was proud of her Swedish heritage. Throughout the years Marilyn travelled to some of her favorite places, Scandinavia, Ireland, Hawaii, and Alaska. Marilyn cherished her grandchildren never missing their sporting events and activities. She loudly cheered for her favorite Boston sports teams.
Marilyn is survived by her daughters, Kristine Sullivan and her husband Robert of West Barnstable, Karen Wollard and her husband Brian of Hollywood, FL, Kimberly White of Danville, NH. She is also survived by five grandchildren, Matthew, Kirstin, Michael, Julia, and Sean as well as several nieces and nephews. She was predeceased by her sister Eleanor and brother Karl.
A graveside service will be held at Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn, on Monday, July 6 at 11:00 am. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Marilyn’s memory may be made to First Lutheran Church 1663 Main Street West Barnstable, MA 02668. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
