Obituary of Helen Lancelotte McLatchy
Helen Lancelotte McLatchy, formerly of Woburn and Burlington, passed away on Wednesday evening, August 12. She was 90 years of age.
Born in Boston and raised in Burlington, she was the daughter of the late Manuel, and the late Helen (Spence) Sousa; and she was preceded in death by her first husband, the late Lester Lancelotte who died in 1987; and her second husband, the late William McLatchy, Jr. who died in 2012.
Helen was a loving and caring person. She would always take it upon herself to care for her ill family members, including her father-in-law, her mother, as well as both her late husbands.
Helen loved to pack up her family on Sundays, and head to Long Beach in Gloucester. She and Lester also enjoyed getting their buckets of pennies and nickels to play cards with her neighbors. She was very active in bowling and bingo, and loved to crochet. It put a smile on Helen’s face to be with her grandchildren whom she loved. In later years, she loved to travel America and the Islands with her sisters.
Helen is survived by her sons and daughters, John Lancelotte and his wife Marcia of Burlington, Charlene Louzon and her husband Dale of Colorado Springs, CO, Dominic Lancelotte of Woburn, and Nancy Ames of Beverly. She was preceded in death by one son, the late Lester Lancelotte, Jr. Helen is also survived by nine grandchildren, ten great grandchildren, two sisters, Frannie Iovino of Bedford, Dorothy DeFilippo of Waltham; and she was predeceased by one brother, the late Bill Spence, and two sisters, the late Barbara Delorey, and the late Betty Nicoli.
Services will be private. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Helen’s memory may be made to the Alzheimer’s Association, 309 Waverly Oaks Rd., Waltham, MA 02452.
