am sorry for your family's loss and my thoughts and prayers are with you all.
I want to let you know that Dick was a great man in my life and thanks to him I have had a great career in the security industry. He took a chance on me when I was 18 to work the over night shift in the monitoring center and then several years later let me run it. He taught me so much of what I know today. I have fond memories of going to dinners with him at the Msca and traveling to many CSAA meetings. He left his mark in the Industry and was a mentor to many people. I will be always great full to him for everything he gave me. What a great man and I am blessed to have had him in my life. Rest in peace my long time friend and mentor you will be missed.

I remember one of my first company town hall meetings after starting with American. The entire senior management team wore headset mics, struggling over the din of a “standing-room-only” event in the main conference area. Each speaker took their turn and did their level best, often wading through a sea of background noise, conversations and occasional good-natured heckle.
After each had spoken, Mr. Sampson was called to the lectern but opted instead to simply walk to the middle of the room, with everyone surrounding him. He shared with us his first-hand account of the tragic house fire in Palmyra NY that would prove such a pivotal force in his life’s work.
He spoke at half the volume of the other presenters, but no mic was required, no need to calm the chatter – the room was his. And, when he was done, you could have heard a pin drop.... on the carpet. A tremendous communicator!
I still meet people who, as soon as I mention American Alarm, would immediately ask, ‘How’s Dick?’ and want to share a story or remind me of one of his contributions to our industry.
Soft-spoken, articulate, compassionate and kind. A wonderful life and legacy. He will be missed.

I'm so saddened to hear of Dick's passing. While I didn't know him very well, he always had such a kind, welcoming, and sometimes funny way about him. He was a lovely person. My thoughts are with the Sampson Family during this time of remembrance and grieving. May your memories give you comfort.

A recent college grad, I had just moved to Winchester and begun attending Dick and Betsy's church. In search of a career track, I was so grateful when Dick offered me a job. Though I wasn't cut to sell alarms, what stayed with me was the impression of genuine kindness and generosity coupled with service excellence and confidence that characterized both Dick and my salesman mentor who I believe still works there. All love to the Sampson family.

Dick was one of the first people I met when I started in the security business. Like him, I quit what I was doing and started my own company. Knowing he did the same gave me encouragement during those hard early years. He was a true gentleman and leader. He will be sorely missed.

I knew Dick for 33 years, and he made me feel welcomed from day one! I often enjoyed conversations with Dick regarding Rockford, Dixon, and Mount Morris Illinois as my parents grew up in Mount Morris around the same time as he did in Dixon and Rockford. Mount Morris is just 5 miles down the road from Dixon. Mount Morris and Dixon are so small that my parents often said going to Rockford "was a big night out." Dick got a big kick out of that. Rest peacefully, Dick. You will be missed!

From the very first time I met Dick Sampson I was very taken with the way he welcomed you. American Alarm had just purchased Alphatronics Security, and we were all so nervous to meet the new owners, there was no need to be nervous we were very graciously welcomed by Mr. Sampson and the Sampson Family. This is one of the things that I really love about working at American Alarm is the feeling that you are part of a big family. When you walked into the Arlington office and Mr. Sampson saw you he always came over and greeted you and I was always taken that he knew so many of us by our first names. I am sure Mr. Sampson, Stehpen Oles and Fran Cahill are now together and talking about alarm systems. They were all of the same era. Mr. Sampson will be greatly missed by all of us.

Mr. Sampson had a genuine and caring spirit that touched so many people at American Alarm over the years. When he asked how you were doing, he truly wanted to know, always ready to offer advice or assistance if he thought he could help. He had a way of bringing joy and camaraderie to the workplace—whether donning costumes for Halloween or belting out "Happy Birthday" in his unforgettable operatic voice.
Dick often shared stories about the early days of the business, worrying about paying vendors, and marveled at how far the company had come. He was deeply proud of American Alarm's success, but even more so of his beloved family.
On a personal note, I will miss our conversations about the Red Sox and seeing him diligently signing checks in his corner office. Rest easy, Mr. Sampson. Your kindness, leadership, and legacy will continue to inspire us all.
Fondly, Lisa Davis
