Obituary of Rose E. Scanlon

Rose E. (Figucia) Scanlon, of Woburn, passed away after a short illness on Wednesday afternoon, August 7. She was 82 years of age. Born in Wakefield and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late John J. Figucia, Sr., and the late Annette (Nasella) Figucia. Rose was raised in Woburn, and attended Woburn Schools. She later moved to Somerville where she lived for a time before coming back to Woburn 28 years ago. Prior to her retirement, Rose worked as a cashier at Star Market in Cambridge. Rose was very devoted to her family, and she was a deeply religious person. Rose was the wife of the late Ronald J. Scanlon, and the former wife of Alfonso S. Squillante. She was also preceded in death by one son, the late Joseph Squillante. She is survived by her daughter, Darlene Langley of North Reading; three grandchildren, Erika, Ryan, and Gianni; and her two sisters, Shirley A. Garbino and her husband Joseph of Woburn, Carole Croteau of Sterling; and she was preceded in death by three brothers and one sister, the late John J. Figucia, Jr., the late Frank W. Figucia, the late Paul H. Figucia her twin brother, and the late June Maguire. Rose is further survived by many nieces and nephews. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Sunday, August 11 from 3:00-7:00 pm. The funeral will be from the funeral home on Monday, August 12 at 9:00 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Charles Borromeo Church, 280 Main St., Woburn at 10:00 am.
