Obituary of Barbara V. Lystad

Barbara V. (Green) Lystad, 88, of Burlington, formerly of Woburn, passed away on Tuesday morning, March 5, 2024. She was the wife of the late Knut H. Lystad who died in 2014. Born in Lynn and raised in Saugus, she was the daughter of the late Elliot and the late Mildred (Woods) Green. Barbara had a love for life. She enjoyed traveling with her late husband, Knut and experienced many wonderful memories in Norway, Hawaii, Denmark, and Sweden, to name a few. Barabara was a light to so many and would often make friends wherever she would go. She enjoyed the company of her close friends and family. Most of all, Barbara loved her family. She was a devoted mother to her children, Scott and Kristin, and loving grandmother to her 7 grandchildren. She especially loved having her family all together on the holidays. She was a wonderful cook and always made the holidays extra special with her love and laughter. In addition to her late husband of 52 years Knut, Barbara was preceded in death by her son, the late Col. Scott E. Lystad; and her close cousin, the late Roberta Cook. Barbara is survived by her daughter, Kristin Lystad Duran and her husband Michael of Burlington; and her daughter-in-law, Theresa Lystad of Brea, California. She is also survived by seven grandchildren, Eric and Kristina Duran; Kevin, Heather, Colleen, Lindsey, and Keith Lystad. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday, March 14 from 4:00-7:00pm.
