In our high school class Robert was one of those quiet boys who didn't live for team sports and so might have been invisible. Except, he wasn't. I recall clearly his quiet ways, friendly smile, and obvious intelligence. We were in classes together, but I didn't know him beyond that nor in the years that followed. I wish I had. Reading now about what he achieved in life makes me wish I could have thanked him for his service as a medic in the Viet Nam era. I'd like to have asked him about his career in the California restaurant scene. Most of all, I wish I might have told him that, as one '59 graduate of Woburn High to another, I was proud of him.
My deepest sympathies are with his family in this time of sorrow.
