Obituary of Wilma Thomas

Wilma (Bacos) Thomas, a longtime resident of Woburn, passed away after a long illness on Friday, December 22. She was 82 years of age. Born and raised in Lowell, she was the daughter of the late Arthur, and the late Ethel Bacos. Wilma was predeceased by her loving husband of 45 years, the late Gregory Thomas. Wilma graduated from Lowell schools, and she attended the University of Lowell. Gregory and Wilma came to Woburn in 1964, settling on the West Side. Wilma was an active and faithful member of the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church in Woburn. She was Past President of the Annunciation Church Council, the only woman ever having served in that capacity. Wilma was also a member of the Ladies Philoptochos Society at the Annunciation Church, and was Past President of Woburn Youth Hockey. Wilma enjoyed going to the movies every Thursday with her friend Anna. Wilma is survived by three sons, Nicholas Thomas and his wife Maureen of Burlington, Christopher Thomas and his partner Julie Robinson, and Gregory Thomas and his partner Becky Benicasa. She is also survived by eight grandchildren, Alexander, Nicholas, Sean, Andrew, Ella, Zachary, Benjamin, and Gabrielle Thomas; and two sisters, Pat Demogrnes, and Stephie Bacos Voutselas. A funeral service will be held at the Annunciation of the Virgin Mary Greek Orthodox Church, 70 Montvale Ave., Woburn on Thursday, December 28 at 11:00 am. Visitation will be at the church, prior to the service from 10:00-11:00 am. Burial will be at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
