Obituary of Mary A. Larson

Mary A. (McDevitt) Larson, 65, formerly of Burlington and Woburn, passed away peacefully at her home in Salisbury on Saturday, December 16, 2023 after fighting a lengthy battle with cancer. Mary was born on October 2, 1958 to the late Michael and Frances Arlene (Beevers) McDevitt. Mary was the devoted sister to Terry Walsh of Lynn, Melissa Roderick of Woburn and the late Michael McDevitt of Woburn. She was the loving wife for 44 years to Kelly Larson Sr and a dedicated and loving mother to Kelly Larson Jr. and the late Colleen Larson. Mary leaves behind many nieces and nephews whom she loved dearly. Shane Walsh, Dennis Walsh, Megan Roderick, Zack Roderick and the late Michael Walsh Jr and Jenna Walsh all of Woburn. After graduating from Woburn High School in the class of 1976, Mary pursued studies at Burdette and Regis College. She worked at Lahey Clinic in Burlington as an office administrator and later earned her nursing degree becoming a Registered Nurse until her retirement. Mary and her husband, Kelly, chose Salisbury, MA, as their retirement destination, settling in a home just steps away from the beach. Throughout her retirement, Mary actively volunteered at the Boys and Girls Club in Salisbury, managing the Games room for children. Later, she dedicated her time to volunteering at Leeward Light Thrift Store in their warehouse. A passionate lover of games, especially Scrabble, she also enjoyed puzzles, attending plays or movies, and indulging in good books. Travel was another joy in Mary's life, with fond memories of visiting Ireland, Hawaii, and Mount Rushmore. In 2020, Mary embraced grandmotherhood, adoringly spending time reading and playing with her grandson, Michael Larson, who affectionately referred to her as "Meem." While Mary’s fierce love and unwavering devotion will be deeply missed by family and friends, her spirit will continue to inspire us daily, reminding us of the profound privilege of having had her as our biggest fan. Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd. (cor. of Pleasant St.) Woburn on Wednesday evening, December 20, from 4:00-7:00 pm. A graveside service will be at the Long Hill Cemetery, 105 Beach Road in Salisbury on Thursday, December 21 at 11:00 am. Contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, 220 North Main St., Suite 104, Natick, MA 01760 (www.cff.org)
