Obituary of Donald F. Erlandson

Donald F. Erlandson, 92 of Peabody, well known resident of Everett, MA for 60 years, passed away peacefully in his sleep after a short illness on Wednesday, December 8, 2022, at Brooksby Village in Peabody. He was born in Woburn, MA on November 1, 1930, to the late Edgar F. Erlandson and the late Mabel O. (Olson) Erlandson. He graduated from Woburn High School in 1948. Don joined the US Army in 1952 and served for two years before being honorably discharged. He was a Korean War Veteran. Don was a civil draftsman for Congdon, Gurney and Towle for 33 years before they we acquired by Vanasse, Hangen and Brustlin, where he retired from. Don was a quiet man with a gentle spirit, along with being a capable carpenter and he spent many hours improving his home for his family. Don was married to Jane E. “Betty” (Farrell) Erlandson for sixty-three years, who predeceased him in 2018. Don is survived by a son and daughter-in-law David D. and Carole A. Erlandson of Billerica, and a daughter and son-in-law Debra J. and Steven M. Kraytenberg of Londonderry, N.H.; six grandchildren, Sarah Falcone and her husband, Michael of Billerica, Erik Erlandson of Quincy, Lindsey Erlandson of Billerica, Emily Kraytenberg of Londonderry, N.H., Rachel Kraytenberg of Londonderry, N.H., and Alison Kraytenberg of Londonderry, N.H.; two greatgrandchildren, Piper, and Brielle Falcone of Billerica. Don deeply loved his grandchildren and great grandchildren and was grateful for the times and holidays he could spend with them. Don is survived by his sister-in-law Lois Farrell of Billerica, and is predeceased by three brothers, Edgar Erlandson, Robert Erlandson, Kenneth Erlandson, and one sister, Elaine (Erlandson) Vlieger. He also leaves behind many wonderful nieces and nephews, and great friends and neighbors from Everett and the Brooksby Village in Peabody. Don resided in the Brooksby Village for 4-½ years prior to his death. Per his request, there will be a private graveside service in Woburn, followed by a public memorial service at 1 pm on Wednesday, December 14, 2022, at the Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn St., Burlington, MA. All are welcome. In lieu of flowers contributions may be made in Donald’s name to the Church of the Open Bible, 3 Winn Street, Burlington, MA 01803. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
