Obituary of Mary Laing

Mary (Papadonis) Laing, 67, a lifelong resident of Woburn, passed away after a long illness on Tuesday morning, December 6. She was the wife of David W. Laing, Sr. Born and raised in Woburn, she was the daughter of the late James, and the late Katherine (Kiklis) Papadonis. Mary was a graduate of Woburn High School, Class of 1973. She had worked for the Woburn Council of Social Concern for over 35 years, most recently as Director of Public Relations and Fundraising. Mary was an avid boater. She was a member of the Danversport Yacht Club Association, and had served on the Event Committee. Mary was also a longtime active member and Past President of the Woburn Rotary Club. Mary devoted her life to helping people and giving back to her community. But her greatest love was her family. She was a devoted and loving wife, mother and grandmother whose grandchildren meant the world to her. In addition to her husband David, Mary is survived by two sons, David Laing, Jr. and his wife Kim of Wilmington, and Bradford Laing and his wife Lauren of Littleton; one daughter, Jamie Ferguson and her husband James of Londonderry, NH; and four grandchildren, Connor and Ryan Laing of Wilmington, and Alyson and Nathan Laing of Littleton. Mary is also survived by her brother, John J. Papadonis and his wife Loretta of West Yarmouth; her sister-in-law Bonnie Laing of Milford. She is further survived by two nieces, Katie Papadonis of London, England, and Tiffany D’Abbraccio and her husband Ronnie of Burlington; and one great-niece Lia D’Abbraccio, and one great-nephew, Wesley D’Abbraccio of Burlington. Visiting hours will be at the Arthur P. Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Wednesday, December 14 from 4:00-8:00 pm. A funeral service will be held at the funeral home on Thursday, December 15 at 10:00 am. Private burial will take place at a later date. In lieu of flowers, contributions in Mary’s memory may be made to the Woburn Council of Social Concern, 2 Merrimac St., Woburn, MA 01801 (socialconcern.org)
