Obituary of Arthur D. Hicks

Arthur D. Hicks, formerly of Reading, MA, passed away peacefully at the Westford House in Westford, MA on Friday, November 25. He was 88 years of age. Born in Woburn on January 16, 1934, he was the son of the late Walter & Leona Hicks. Arthur served in the United States Army, and was honorably discharged in December of 1957. Prior to his retirement, he worked in sales for Wilson’s Leather. Arthur was a world traveler, and he was a collector of foreign currency. He loved playing poker, bingo and rummikub. Arthur was known for his love of spaghetti and meatballs and ice cream. He enjoyed family BBQ's for over 50 years at Kingston State Park in Kingston, NH. Arthur is survived by two sisters, Claire Hicks and Catherine Mallinson; and his sister-in-law Jane Hicks; and many nieces, nephews, great-nieces and nephews, and also great-great nieces and nephews. He is further survived by dear friends, Dee, Al and Margie. In addition to his parents, Arthur was predeceased by his siblings, Edward Hicks, William Hicks and his wife Stina, Robert Hicks and his wife Kay, Joseph Hicks and his wife Stella, Mildred Rolli and her husband Tony, George Hicks and his wife Marie, and Irene Robinson and her husband Donald; and his dear friend Joseph "Nick" Nicholas. He was also predeceased by his beloved dog “Tira.” Visitation will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday, December 1 from 10:00-11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00 am.
