Obituary of Marcella Marie Carter
Marcella Marie Carter, age 95, of Jefferson City, Mo., passed away peacefully on Wednesday, December 15, 2021, at Oak Tree Villas.
Marcella was born on December 31, 1925, in Boston, Mass., the daughter of Joseph Napoleon and Clara Bella (Nolan) Pettipas. She was married in 1949 in Woburn, Mass. to Robert Dobbins, who preceded her in death in 1967. She found love once more and married Frederick Carter on 21 September 1969 in Woburn, Mass.
Marcella spent most of her life in Massachusetts and graduated from High School in Boston. She was truly the heart and matriarch of her family. Marcella was a homemaker, making sure her children and family were taken care of.
Marcella was a 60 Year member of the Order of Eastern Star and was honored to serve as Matron and Deputy Grand Matron in Massachusetts.
Marcella was artistic and loved to create with her hands. She did beautiful calligraphy and enjoyed crocheting. She was an exquisite cook and took pride in cooking for her family and even managed a Chinese restaurant for many years. Marcella made many friends through her involvement with the Eastern Star Chapter she belonged to in the Woburn area. She enjoyed opera music and spending time with family and friends.
Survivors include: two children, Clifford Dobbins (Linda Whitten) of Jefferson City, Mo., and Thomas Dobbins (Tamala) of Louisville, Ky.; her stepchildren, Michelle Carter {Deborah} and Kathleen Carter, Kathy Carter, Susan and Patty. Two grandchildren, Clifford Dobbins, Jr. and Lisa Paschalidis (Makis); five great-grandchildren; grandson-in-law, Patrick Kelley; and numerous nieces, and nephews.
Marcella was preceded in death by her parents; her first husband, Robert Dobbins; her husband, Frederick Carter; eight brothers and sisters; one son, William Dobbins; and one granddaughter, Deborah Jean Kelley.
Graveside services and inurnment will be held at 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 11, 2022 at Woodbrook Cemetery, 100 Salem St., Woburn, Mass.
