Obituary of Russell Moore
Russell “Russ” Moore, 70, of Wilmington, passed away on Friday evening, September 27 after a long battle with cancer. He was the husband of Sharon (Cullivan) Moore.
Born in Woburn on February 16, 1949, he was the son of the late Thomas and Jean (Stenquist) Moore. Russ was raised in Woburn, and graduated from Woburn Memorial High School in 1967.
Russell was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Vietnam War. He received the Purple Heart after being wounded in combat. Russell married his wife Sharon on October 16,1971, and they had been married for almost 48 years.
Russell was part owner of Gray’s Appliance in Melrose where he worked for many years. He truly enjoyed working at the business and, and continued to work part time all the way up to the time of his passing.
Russ enjoyed being outside; gardening; spending time with his wife, children, grandchildren; and his morning gym routine with all of the friends he made there.
Russell is survived by his wife Sharon; two sons, Brian Moore and his wife Jodi, Michael Moore and is wife Crystal, all of Wilmington; and his four grandchildren, Sean, Nicholas, Adrienne and Kiersten, also all of Wilmington. He is also survived by his three siblings, David Moore and his wife Marion of Mashpee, Alison Moore and her partner Michelle of Woburn, and Douglas Moore and his wife Kathleen of Wilmington; and their families.
Visiting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday evening, October 3 from 4-8 pm. A funeral service will be held at the North Congregational Church, 896 Main St., Woburn on Friday afternoon, October 4 at 12:30 pm, followed by burial with Military Honors at the Wildwood Cemetery in Wilmington.
