Obituary of Joseph F Sylva
Joseph F. Sylva, 70, of Wakefield, formerly of Bedford, MA, passed away unexpectedly on Tuesday, October 8th.
Joe was born and raised in Somerville. He was predeceased by his parents whom he adored, Joseph and Margaret (McDonald) Sylva, and his older brother and best friend John Sylva.
Joe was a graduate of Matignon High School, class of 1967, and went on to attend Boston College earning his undergraduate degree in 1971. He then then furthered his education, earning his MBA from Suffolk University, and his Juris Doctor from The New England School of Law in 1979.
Joe practiced law until the early nineties when he became afflicted with Multiple Sclerosis, which he courageously battled for the better part of three decades.
Joe’s favorite past-time was watching all Boston sports and he was without a doubt the Red Sox’s biggest fan. He was even known to watch Yankees’ games from time to time just to cheer on their opponents.
Joe is survived by his devoted wife and forever soulmate, Patricia (Maher) Sylva as well as his three children and daughter-in-law, and his beloved grandson. He also leaves behind two brothers and many cousins, nieces and nephews, and many friends.
Joe personified love in every sense of the word and he will be remembered for his kind heart and strength. He will be greatly missed by all that knew and loved him.
