Obituary of David E. Nelson

David E. Nelson, a longtime resident of Burlington, passed away on Saturday, August 29, 2026. He was 83 years of age.

Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late Arnold V., and the late Frances E. Nelson; and he was the loving husband of Joyce Pat (Schofield) Nelson, with whom he shared 62 years of marriage.

David worked for Boston Edison, later Eversource for over 40 years, retiring in 2005.  He loved spending time with his family, who were the center of his life.  David was an avid Boston sports fan, and enjoyed watching old game shows.  David was a 60-Year member of Mount Horeb Lodge of Masons in Woburn.

In addition to his wife Pat, David is survived by one daughter, Karen Carten and her husband David of Burlington; one son, Brian Nelson of Burlington.  David is also survived by two grandsons, Bradford and Andrew Carten; two great-grandsons, Arnold and Grayson Carten; and several cousins.
