Obituary of Lennart R. Swanson

It is with great sorrow that we announce the passing of Lennart R. Swanson of Ashby, Massachusetts on August 24th, 2026. He is survived by his wife Grace, daughter Christina and her husband Alan; son Karl and his wife Stacy; and son Alan; sisters Alice and Martha, and numerous grandchildren and great grandchildren.

Lennart served in the US Army for two years where he was stationed in Europe before graduating with a bachelor’s degree from the University of Massachusetts. He worked as a computer programmer for a few years, was self-employed as a Master Electrician for 20 years, and had a real estate license before working for the US Postal Service for nearly 20 years until his retirement in 2000.

Lennart and Grace attended the North Congregational Church in North Woburn for many years. Lennart was also a Master Mason, and a 50-Year member of Mount Horeb Lodge, AF&AM in Woburn. He was an upstanding citizen, father, grandfather, and a great friend who was always available to help others. Lennart enjoyed gardening, visiting cities, going to museums, and learning vocabulary words. He loved playing cribbage and was always ready for a game.

Lennart was also very proud of his Swedish heritage, and taught himself the language. He was known for his love of potato chips, which was his favorite food.

Services will be private.  In lieu of flowers, please make a donation to a dog rescue organization in Lennart’s name.
