Obituary of Peter W. Au

Peter W. Au, a resident of Woburn for 5 years passed away on July 8, 2026, at the Lahey Hospital and Medical Center in Burlington, Massachusetts.  He was 79 years of age.

Peter is survived by his daughters, Joanna Au and Jaclyn Klaus (and families), his brother Paul Au of Maryland (and family,) and his three grandchildren, Thea, Logan and Lucy Klaus. 

Peter was born in Guangzhou, China on January 10, 1947 the son of Au Chung Lun and Leung Pui Yuk.   His family later moved to Hong Kong where he completed primary and high school studies.

He attended National Taiwan University, graduating with a B.S. in Civil Engineering in 1970 and moved to the United States to attend Ohio State University where he graduated with M.S. in Structural Engineering in 1973.  In 1980, he moved to the San Francisco bay area to work for Bechtel Corporation for whom he worked for over 25 years.  The Central Artery/Tunnel project, aka “the Big Dig”, brought him to the Boston area, settling in Framingham, MA. 

Professionally, he contributed to a number of large construction endeavors around the world, including the building of Jubail Industrial City in Saudi Arabia, the Western Rail of the KCRC in Hong Kong, and the new World Trade Center transportation hub in New York City. 

Peter returned to the Boston area in 2020 to be closer to his daughters and grandkids.  In his spare time, he enjoyed spending time with family, travelling, playing golf, reading, and following local sports teams.

A visitation will be held at the Graham Funeral Home 3 Arlington Rd. (corner of Pleasant St.) in Woburn on Wednesday July 15, 2026, from 10-11am followed by a funeral service at 11:00 am.  Interment will be at the Woodbrook Cemetery, Woburn.
