Obituary of Edwin J. Lord

Edwin J. “Eddy” Lord, also known to his family as Ted, 93, passed away at the E.N. Rogers Memorial Veterans Hospital in Bedford on Thursday morning, July 2, 2026.  He was the husband of the late Evelyn (Fawcett) Lord who died in 1994.

Born and raised in Woburn, he was the son of the late George, and the late Mildred (Calbeck) Lord.  “Eddy” as he was known to his family and friends, was a U.S. Army Veteran of the Korean War era.

Prior to his retirement, Ed worked for Johnson Roses in Woburn, and later for Mahoney’s Rocky Ledge in Winchester for decades.

He was a proud member of the George A. Campbell American Legion Post 101 in Woburn for more than fifty years, where he participated in many events and activities alongside family and friends. He and his wife Evelyn especially enjoyed the monthly socials, which featured dinner, dancing, and the camaraderie of good friends. The evenings often ended with a cherished tradition—early morning breakfasts together at Howard Johnson's.

Ed was a lifelong golfer and a proud member of Candia Woods Golf Club for more than thirty years. He played three times a week, forming many lasting friendships along the way. As the club's oldest member, he was admired and genuinely liked by both fellow members and the staff, who appreciated his warm personality, kindness, wit, and enduring love of the game.

For more than fifty years, Eddy looked forward to his annual September golf weekend in North Conway, New Hampshire. This cherished tradition was one of the highlights of his year, giving him the opportunity to reconnect with lifelong friends, enjoy the game he loved, and create memories that he treasured.

Ed was preceded in death by his wife Evelyn and his brother George A. Lord Jr and his wife Mary, as well as his brother-in-law George A. Getty, Jr.

He is survived by one son, Michael G. Lord and his partner Charlene Borgi of Florida; and two daughters, Cathleen M. Snow and her husband Charles Snow, and Linda A. Rollins and her husband Richard Rollins both of Woburn. His grandchildren; Richard C. Snow and his wife Lauren of North Billerica, William A Snow and his partner Danielle Caissie of Pepperell, Daniel A. Snow of Woburn, Sarah E. (Rollins) Klein and her husband Joshua of Boxborough and Amanda K. Rollins and her partner Jennifer Finn of Topsfield.  Great grandchildren Carley, Daniel, Maddison, Charles, Emilee, James, Caissie and Leah.  As well as his cousin, Elizabeth Patterson; and his sister-in-law, Anna Getty.

Visitation will be at the Arthur P. Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Thursday, July 9 from 9:30-11:00 am, followed by a funeral service at the funeral home at 11:00 am.  Interment with military honors will take place at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
