Obituary of Maureen E. Hogan
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the peaceful passing of Maureen (Carney) Hogan on May 20, 2026, at the age of 75. Maureen's final days were spent surrounded by love and care.
Born on April 13, 1951, in Medford, Massachusetts, Maureen was the daughter of the late Thomas J. Carney, Jr. and Marianne (Rezendes) Carney. She attended Medford High School, graduating in 1969, and went on to a diverse career in the retail industry including such companies as Filenes, TJ Maxx and Dunkin Donuts, where she worked in management.
In October 1974, Maureen married Robert J. Hogan. Together, they enjoyed bike riding and their vacations in the Lakes Region of New Hampshire, and on the beaches of Cape Cod. They were also avid NASCAR Racing fans, holding season tickets and enjoying the thrill of the race. Maureen was an active member of the Grace Episcopal Church in Medford, MA, and participated in various community organizations.
Maureen was predeceased by her husband, Robert, and her loving parents. She is survived by her siblings, Tom Carney and his wife Marian, Nancy (Carney) Haugh and her husband William “Bud”, David Carney; her sister-in-law Marcia (Hogan) Schell and her husband Dan, brother-in-law Ted Hogan; and a host of nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.
A graveside service will be held on Wednesday, June 10, 2026, at 11:00 AM at Woodbrook Cemetery, located at 100 Salem St, Woburn, MA, where family and friends will gather to celebrate Maureen’s life. If so desired, dress in spring colors as that would have delighted her.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests donations be made in Maureen’s memory to Make-A-Wish America, an organization that brings joy to others. Donations can be made online at Make-A-Wish America (www.wish.org). Or donate to a charitable organization of your choice in Maureen’s name.
The family would like to extend their heartfelt thanks to the caring staff at Bear Mountain in Andover, MA, for their dedicated support and compassion during Maureen’s final journey.
As her sister, Nancy, fondly recalls, whenever someone said, "I love you", Maureen always replied with "I love you more”, a reflection of her care for others. Her memory will forever be cherished.
