Obituary of Jonathan P. McVicker
Jonathan P. McVicker. A lifelong resident of Woburn passed away suddenly at his home on May 13, 2025. He was 40 years of age. Jonathan was born in Yokosuka, Japan on August 31, 1984. He was the son of Leslie A. Catania of Woburn and Cliva C. McVicker III of Fairview, OR.
Jonathan graduated from Shawsheen Valley Technical High Machinist program in 2003. Soon after, he proudly enlisted in the United States Marine Corp with his cousin and “brother,” David Hudson. Jon would honorably serve active duty for 4 years, and as a reservist for 2 years, earning the full rank of Sergeant. During his service, Jon was primarily stationed in Japan and deployed twice to Iraq and once to Afghanistan.
Upon separation from the Marine Corps, Jon continued his education studying Computer Aided Drafting (CAD) and Design at Wentworth Institute of Technology, eventually earning a Drafting and Design certificate at Porter and Chester Institute.
Jon’s began his civilian career as a CAD Technician for ABBOTT Engineering in Lowell, MA and would continue his career in CAD at various companies, until his passing. Beyond his career, Jon was a member of the American Legion and Woburn Minutemen, doing Rev War reenactments, something he began with his grandfather, James Catania Sr.
Jon was laid back free spirit who was always there for his friends and family. He made connections with people and he was loved for it. When he wasn’t laughing or cracking a joke, Jon enjoyed movies, video games and running.
In addition to his parents, Jonathan is survived by his brothers, Cliva C. McVicker IV and his wife Elaine of Nashua, NH, Andrew D. McVicker and Marc J. McVicker, both of Woburn. He is also survived by various relatives.
A funeral service will be held at Calvary Christian Church 47 Grove St. in Lynnfield on Thursday, May 22 at 11am. Burial with military honors will follow at Wood Brook Cemetery in Woburn. Visiting hours will be held at the Graham Funeral Home 3 Arlington Rd. (corner of Pleasant St.) in Woburn on Wednesday, May 21 from 4-8pm.
