Obituary of James A. Kelly
James “Jimmy” Kelly, of Woburn, passed away on January 6, 2025. He was 75 years of age.
Born in Revere, he was the first born of parents, Evelyn and Stanley Kelly. Jimmy was raised and mostly resided in Woburn, and was a graduate of Woburn High School. As a child, he enjoyed sports and was a good athlete, his favorites were baseball and hockey.
Jimmy became a young father during college, and his only child, a daughter, was born during his final exam at Suffolk University. After graduating college, Jimmy joined the Army National Guard and would devote his weekends to his service. This dedication eventually led him to being an Army veteran of Desert Storm.
He was a doting and loving father that would spend every Sunday taking his daughter on day trips throughout New England exploring beach towns, museums, movies, fishing trips, etc. Throughout his daughter’s entire childhood, he never missed a Sunday.
Jimmy was a lighthearted, funny guy that was either always laughing or making others laugh. He was a known joker. You could hardly be in his presence without a smile or laugh.
He also loved baseball immensely, spending many summer days and nights at Fenway and never missed his games on TV. He was an avid Red Sox fan, and it was a rare occurrence when you would see him without a Red Sox sweatshirt, jacket or baseball hat.
Throughout his life, Jimmy had many different occupations. He was a probation officer, owner and operator of canteen food trucks, and a co-owner of an aerospace business. He was a very hard worker. He loved working and dedicated himself to his jobs.
One of his favorite joys was summer. Since he was a young boy, his family owned a cabin on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire. He spent summer weekends skiing, swimming, barbecuing, and most importantly spending time with the people he loved best, his family and friends. The amount of which he will be missed, cannot be measured, but we are all luckier to have known, loved and been loved by him.
Jimmy is survived by his daughter, Jennifer Kelly, and granddaughter Emma Aliano. He is also survived by his sisters, Nancy Migliaccio, and Debra White and her husband Thomas; two nieces, Jaime Berriola and her husband John, Kelly Latucky and her husband Pete; and one nephew, Rian White.
Services for Jimmy will be held later, at a date to be announced. Arrangements by the Graham Funeral Home, Woburn.
