Obituary of Josephine L. Tringale
Josephine “Jo” Louise (Zuccala) Tringale, 98, devoted wife of the late, Vincent J. Tringale formerly of Woburn, died February 21, 2025 in the Aberjona Nursing Facility surrounded by her family. Previously she had lived in Woburn for decades before moving to The Gables in Winchester where she had eight happy years.
Jo, as she was commonly known by friends and family, was a graduate of East Boston High School and Massachusetts College of Art where she studied fashion design. For decades, Jo designed and made many of her own clothes. While she was in school, she worked as a hand model for Filene’s Department Store in Boston.
Jo continued her interest in art, as a watercolorist and an instructor, establishing the Tringale Studio of Art in Woburn where for decades she and her husband, taught drawing and painting to students of all ages. She was also an art teacher in the Woburn school system. For many years she and her husband, an artist and art history professor, led college art history tours in Europe. She boasted having visited 13 countries. Jo was also a member of the Lexington Arts & Crafts Guild where she served as an officer for many years.
Jo was the eldest and only daughter of Jack and Anna Zuccala’s four children. She was the devoted mother of three sons, the late Vincent Tringale Jr. and is survived by two sons, Steven Tringali and wife, Barbara Donlon of Stoneham, Kevin Tringale and wife, Brenda Pizzo of Brighton, her granddaughter, Nina Tringali and husband Carlos Rios of Philadelphia and her brother Gerald Zuccala and wife, Carol Zuccala of Centerville, Cape Cod. Additionally, she was an aunt and great aunt to many nieces and nephews.
Jo will be remembered as a kind, elegant, and compassionate woman. Her style and great fashion sense was noted by all who knew her. She enjoyed cooking and entertaining. She would be the first to tell you that she had a wonderful life. She will be greatly missed and cherished always by those who knew her.
Visting hours will be at the Arthur P. Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Friday, February 28 from 9:00-10:30 am, followed by a Funeral Mass at St. Barbara’s Church, 138 Cambridge Rd., Woburn at 11:00 am. Burial will be at the Woodbrook Cemetery in Woburn.
