Obituary of Hazel S. Lambert

Hazel (Stout) Lambert, 86, of Woburn, passed away on Monday, January 27, 2025, surrounded by her loving family.  She was the beloved wife of Leo Lambert.

Born and raised in Quakertown, Pennsylvania, she was the daughter of the late Jacob “Ed” Stout, and the late Olga (Place) Stout.  As a young lady, Hazel was a good student and a good athlete, captaining both field hockey and basketball teams.

Hazel and her husband Leo were married for over 62 years.  They met while working for General Electric (GE) in Burlington, VT.  After a few moves, they came to settle in Woburn in 1966.  Hazel worked as an office manager for 18 years in their family business, Landmark Printing in Lowell, MA.  She later earned her degree in Human Resources at Newbury College and applied her knowledge in the Human Resources Department at Carleton-Willard Village in Bedford, MA. She retired in 2004 after 15 years of service.

Hazel was an avid knitter.  She loved to create and share her original designs, whether it be a wall-hanging, tea cozy, clothing article, purse, etc. She also operated a mail-order knitting supply business, “Hazelcrafts”, which included publication of an international monthly newsletter for knitters.  Hazel was an active and devoted member of the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer in Woburn where she served on the church council, sang in the choir, played handbells, and organized a knitting ministry.  Hazel also worked as a Poll Worker in Woburn for many years. She additionally enjoyed working in her garden and preserving the harvest by pickling, freezing, and jelly-making.

While she really enjoyed her hobbies, the greatest joy in Hazel’s life was spending time with her family, especially with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband Leo, Hazel is survived by daughters Lisa Bigelow and her husband Michael of Woburn, Susan Valentino and her husband Ralph of Stow, and foster daughter, Bonnie Moore of Revere.  She is also survived by her grandchildren, Jake DeMaggio of Woburn, Chrissy DiNitto and her husband Steve of Billerica, Tim Bigelow of Woburn, Max and Jill Valentino of Stow, and her great-grandchildren, Cameron and Abby DiNitto.  Hazel was predeceased by her brother, the late Edward Stout.

Visting hours will be at the Graham Funeral Home, 3 Arlington Rd., Woburn on Friday, February 7 from 4:00-7:00 pm.  A funeral service will be held at the Lutheran Church of the Redeemer, 60 Forest Park Rd., Woburn on Saturday, February 8 at 10:00 am.  Burial will be private.  In lieu of flowers, contributions in Hazel’s memory may be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital (stjude.org)
